Here’s How To Celebrate The 50th Anniversary of Title IX

Posted in:

Whether you are a sports parent, sports owner, athlete, coach, or fan, the 50th anniversary of Title IX is a day worth honoring and celebrating. On this day, June 23, 50 years ago, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 was passed into law, signed by President Richard Nixon.

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Title IX changed women’s athletics and continues to shape the future of them. Young girls now get to watch professional athletes that look like them compete and get paid. Teenage girls go on to receive athletic scholarships. Young women sign pro deals and receive sponsorships. All across the world, the 50th anniversary of Title IX is a day worth celebrating, but also reflecting.

Here’s how you can spend the day.
