About you
I’m Tomi Idowu, a recent graduate of Emory University where I majored in Media Studies and minored in African Studies. I was born in Delaware but raised in Lagos, Nigeria where I lived till I finished up high school in South Africa. I am driven by creating opportunities within media, sports, entertainment and technology.
Where you’re from
I call Lagos, Atlanta and now Philadelphia home because these cities and the people in them helped me become the person I am today. On a much smaller scale, Johannesburg too.
FUN FACT
I eat pints of ice cream as meals
Favorite youth sports memory
Coming on as a sub in a soccer game in 5th Grade and scoring the winning goal for my team. I recall telling my mum the color of the game changed when I came on and she joked about it for years.
Background/Career highlights
I was a member of the founding team of a Nigerian pop-culture website called Culture Custodian where I learnt a lot about SEO, content creation and marketing at large.
WHY YOU JOINED LEAGUESIDE
I’ve known for the past couple of years that I want to work in sports in some form. I also love marketing and so Leagueside marries two of my interests perfectly. I was also excited about the team and the immense opportunities I believe I have to grow.
(S)CORE VALUE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU
Having a growth mindset. I love entering a space and not knowing as much about it as possible but live for constantly taking steps in the right direction.
Wishing you all the best, Tomi.
Just wondering what impact being a Head Boy at Corona Secondary School Agbara had on you, if any.
